2018 Keynote Speakers

Prof. Dr. Lola Geraldes Xavier

School of Languages and Translation, Macau Polytechnic Institute, Macau

Lola Geraldes Xavier has a postdoctoral degree from the University of Coimbra (Portugal). She holds a PhD in Literature, by the University of Aveiro (Portugal), she has a Master Degree in Portuguese Literature by the Faculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra; she has a postgraduate degree in African and Diaspora Literatures and Cultures and she is graduated in Modern Languages ​​and Literatures, branch of educational training, from the University of Coimbra.

She co-organized and published books about Portuguese-language literatures and on teaching Portuguese as a Foreign Language. She has published several articles in international scientific journals and presented papers at various International Conferences in the domains of Portuguese Language, Portuguese as a Foreign Language, Contemporary Portuguese Literature, Comparative Literature and Brazilian and African Literatures of Portuguese-speaking countries.

Lola participated in dozens of academic juries (PhD/Master’s Degree) and supervised and co-supervised dozens of academic works.

She is a full member of the Research Center for Portuguese Literature, of the University of Coimbra, and a contributing member of the Center for Languages ​​and Cultures, of the University of Aveiro (Portugal).

As an Associate Professor of ​​the Coimbra Polytechnic Institute (Portugal), she was director of the Programme in Basic Education and she was Teacher Training.

Currently, she is a full Professor at the Macao Polytechnic Institute, where she has been working since 2015, first at the Portuguese Language and Research Center and now at the School of Languages ​​and Translation, where she is Coordinator of the Portuguese Programme.

Since she arrived in Macao, she gave some teaching training on Portuguese as a Foreign Language at some Universities of People’s Republic of China.

Mu Li is a Full Professor with Doctor Degree in Law and Post Doctoral Fellow of Law. Now, He is Dean of School of Art and Law of Wuhan University of Technology; and he also is PhD Student Supervisor of WHUT, Director of China Administrative Law Research Association, Hubei province "Ten Outstanding Young Jurists", Executive Director of Hubei Law Society, Member of the Academic Committee of the Hubei Law society, Vice President and Secretary General of Hubei Administrative Law Research Association, Vice President of Hubei Provincial Constitution Research Association, Vice President of the Local Legislative Council, The first session of Law " Two Thousand Talents Program", and Evaluation Experts for China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, the National Social Science Fund of China, the Ministry of Education of China, Hubei Social Science Fund.

Prof. Dr. Michael McAleer

Distinguished Chair Professor of National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan

President and Distinguished Fellow and 2016 Annual Scientific Award Winner of IETI.

Michael McAleer holds a PhD (Economics), 1981, from Queen´s University, Canada. He is University Distinguished Chair Professor, Department of Quantitative Finance, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, Erasmus Visiting Professor of Quantitative Finance, Econometric Institute, Erasmus School of Economics, Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands, Adjunct Professor in the Department of Quantitative Economics, Complutense University of Madrid (founded 1293) , Spain, Adjunct Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, and IAS Adjunct Professor, Institute of Advanced Sciences, Yokohama National University, Japan. On numerous occasions, he has been a distinguished visiting professor at the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University and Osaka University, Japan, University of Padova (founded 1222), Italy, Complutense University of Madrid (founded 1293), Spain, Ca' Foscari University of Venice, Italy, University of Zurich, Switzerland, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is an elected Distinguished Fellow of the International Engineering and Technology Institute (DFIETI), and an elected Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia (FASSA), International Environmental Modelling and Software Society (FIEMSS), Modelling and Simulation Society of Australia and New Zealand (FMSSANZ), Tinbergen Institute, The Netherlands, and Journal of Econometrics. He is the Editor-in-Chief of five international journals, is on the editorial boards of a further 37 international journals, and has guest co-edited numerous special issues of the Journal of Econometrics (Elsevier), Econometric Reviews (Taylor and Francis), Environmental Modelling and Software (Elsevier), Mathematics and Computers in Simulation (Elsevier), North American Journal of Economics and Finance (Elsevier), International Review of Economics and Finance (Elsevier), Annals of Financial Economics (World Scientific), Journal of Risk and Financial Management (MDPI), Journal of Economic Surveys (Wiley), and Economic Record (Wiley). In terms of academic publications, he has published more than 675 journal articles and books in financial econometrics, quantitative finance, risk and financial management, economics, theoretical and applied econometrics, theoretical and applied statistics, time series analysis, energy economics, energy finance, forecasting, informatics, data mining, bibliometrics, and international rankings of journals and academics.

Prof. Wande Wei

Professor of Wuhan University of Technology, Wuhan

As a full professor and also an M.A. supervisor in cross-cultural communication and English language, Wande Wei has been actively involved in cultural exchanges and translation studies for over 30 years. He is the former director of the Graduate English Teaching Department in the School of Foreign Languages of Wuhan University of Technology. He is also a member of the Higher Education Association for Foreign Language Teaching and Researching. He has successfully published more than 25 academic research papers, and accomplished 20 research projects as well as 15 textbooks mainly concerning cultural and translation studies. He has also held visiting professorships in two universities in the USA, giving a variety of cultural lectures to local students and faculties. Besides, he has been engaged in cultural exchanges and business negotiations with delegates and companies in countries including the USA, Canada, England, Italy, Australia, Iraq and areas including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan ever since 1982. In short, he has always shown his commitment to strengthening cooperation and mutual benefits between different countries in terms of culture, education and business.
